5th wheel hitch should be mounted so that king pin is directly over or slightly forward of rear axle.
Trailer length doesn't matter. Trailer width and location of king pin are what matters in regards to turning radius
Design of trailer front cap also comes into play. Some are flat, some rounded and some have scoops/scallops in them that allow for better clearance.
Trailer is 8' wide (96") so 48" would be radius but type of hitch and king pin location can make big difference in turning radius.

You should be good at 40" (directly over rear axle)
