How many have been told they have to leave campgrounds due to government shutdown?? And what did you do?? Where did you find a place to stay?? Did they give you any warning??
We got thrown out on the previous shutdown several years ago. Thank goodness, we were expecting it, and were close enough to home to drive in one day.

We were at a Corp of Engineer park when a shut down occurred and had already paid for an additional 5 nights (cash). They came around and told everyone we had until noon the next day to leave. We used rvparkreviews.com to locate other parks in the area. When we went back thru the next spring, we made a notation on our envelope of dates we were staying and that we were taking the additional 4 days credit from the shutdown times and stated if there was a problem to please come see us at the site. No one ever showed up asking for additional funds. We gave dates and details in the note so they could have verified we were indeed in the park at the time of the shutdown and what our payment had been.

Why? Some of the beautiful are federal campgrounds.

There are some nice Corps of Engineering campgrounds you are missing out on.

Bummer for those whose holiday plans were messed up. Probably some extra Walmart "campers" this weekend.

The only time we were at a national park during a shutdown, we were allowed to stay, but new arrivals were not allowed in. The only time we were told to leave a national park was when a grass fire was nearby and high winds were expected. The town suspended enforcing an ordinance prohibiting overnight stays in a parking lot, and a local shopping center allowed a bunch of us to stay there until it was safe to return to the park the next day.
