Knock It OFF!

5:45am. I'm snuggled in bed blissfully asleep. The "camper" 12 feet away is quietly packing up his TT in order to get an early start on the road.

Then holy heck breaks loose. My neighbor elects to use an impact wrench to raise his landing gear!! My first waking thought is that a semi is bearing down on our RV and the noise is his jake brake. I jump out of bed while wearing nothing but my skivvies, and promptly run smack dab into the wardrobe door and fall backwards onto the previously slumbering DW. Be warned... Never fall on to this person while she is asleep. But don't worry, the knots on my forehead will eventually go away.

So if you were the guy with the impact wrench at 5:45 IN THE MORNING, "knock it off knucklehead"!

I've gotten in the habit of using a sound machine app on the phone. No matter what goes on outside, I sleep through it. Too many inconsiderate people to trust that the rules are followed.

With the exception of due to an emergency of some sort, why would anyone be up during quiet hours clanging & banging around getting ready to leave?

Some quiet hours go as late as 8 or 9 a.m. If I've got a long drive ahead of me there's no way I'm waiting that late to start. We always did as much as we could the night before including unhooking sewer hoses and then just used the cg showers.

I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be

I like the smell of diesel in the morning but I have no time for those who think it is necessary to let it 'warm' up for 15 minutes. Ever seen construction guys give equipment that sort of time before running engines right up to operating speed?

I was staying in a State Park near LA once and a group of college age guys drove up to the campground and set up their car stereo and turned it up loud enough to rattle the windows in the campground. They were playing football on one of the fields and wanted to be able to hear the stereo. We could drive to the other side of the lake, about a mile away, and still hear the stereo.

We had that at a CG in Tillamook OR two weeks ago. A truck Camper couple got up at 3;30 a.m., and then proceeded to load up the camper onto the Truck, loud noises and all. Why couldn't they have loaded it the night before then undo the sewer et al at 4 a.m.?

I don't recall having to leave a CG that early, but I've arrived late a few times which is essentially the same thing. I use a cordless drill for my stabilizers, but my elec tongue jack is quite loud! I try to use common sense there. If I look around and it appears those around me are still up and about, I'll go ahead. But I have once decided out of courtesy to leave it hooked up till (late) mornin.

All the major cordless manufacturers make 1/2" impacts, some of them with power to deliver 700 ft-lbs of torque. Except for the air exhaust these units will hammer just as loud as as a tire shop pneumatic wrench. These are so much overkill for stabilizers that they are inflicting damage. They may be carrying them as they are suitable for tire changes and other HD work that might be needed.

Good tip for most. If we need to leave early, we pack up everything the night before. As far as hooking up at that time, it depends on the level of the site.

Space the last frontier, the only frontier actually.
Too many people, to close together, limits the freedom, of everyone. I hate the ant colony. If he was fifty feet farther away or certainly two hundred feet, you wouldn't have noticed.
Also a tightly regulated RV Resort everyone is pretty much in tune with everyone else and goes quiet at the appointed time.
This was brought home last time at a Military RV Park on the Reservation. Taps and every one's lights out. It was like being back in service.
Find more amenable digs. Also space and quiet is your friend.

So were you getting up to write a check for new tires? In your 'skivies' and the sales counter had too low of overhead cabinet?:)

Dude across from me a week ago put his down with his impact at 10PM.

It wasn't bad enough he put them down with the impact, but then did about three laps around the trailer "snugging" them up, which drew out the process to about 15 minutes...
