Been there -- Done that. . . :M . . . I worked with the lock for an hour until I found the real problem. Once I found the problem, only 5 min to fix.
Re-read the OP... Especially the part where he took the lock apart and found the broken latch. My guess would be that he has the older Trimark 60-0650 lock assembly that was prone to breaking the cast latch bolt. Hopefully, CW will have the newer 60-1650 replacement in stock with it's redesigned latch mechanism.
