low water temp from water heater.

Suburban SW12DEL. New to us FW, and I fired the WH up and im only getting luke warm water. I thought I may have left the winterizing bypass valve open causing cold water to mix with the hot, but its closed. Looked in the manual, but no help there.

Water is barely warm enough to take a shower. I checked other faucets, and its the same. Any suggestions?
  • What Keith said, likely the outside shower faucets are turned on.

Check the output line from the WH. Is it hot? If not you have a heater issue, if it is you need to look elsewhere.
You say you have checked the bypass? Might be worth another look.
Do you have an outside shower? Make sure the faucets are closed. Leaving them open with the shower head turned off will result in cold water being transferred to your hot system.

You idea about the outside shower reminded me theres a switch/valve for winterizing. Just has a "on and off" position. I had it to off figuring im not winterizing. Just flipped it to "on" and I now have very hot water coming from the taps.

Though that switch/valve just stoped the antifreeze from going into the freshwater tank. Thanks for the hint...
