Manifold Replacements

WE have been RVing for over 40yrs. Currently on Class A number 4

Number three had the same problem but less mileage 32,000.

Number four has 63,000 miles four cracked bolts and two cracked manifolds.

From what I understand this is a fairly common problem, because of excessive heat.

That being said, labor, two new sets of bolts and two new manifolds around 4,300 hundred.

Ford V10 F-53 engine.

just wondering of other experiences and cost quotes thx and stay safe.

I had a 1999 first gen v-10. Had it for over 125,000 almost trouble free miles, all pulling a toad. The 2 problems I had during this 13 yrs period were the serpentine belt idler pully bearing went bad and the starter relay died.
I did replace the manifolds shortly after i bought it with SS headers.... never had an issue as a result.

After 2 cracked manifolds I replaced the cast iron manifolds with Thorley headers, not only do they reduce the heat to prevent cracking, but your HP will be increased also. I think the total cost was about $1200. Looking back I wish I went to the headers after the first manifold cracked.

I paid $1K 8 years ago to have 10 broken off bolts removed, the manifolds removed (they were not cracked), new manifold gaskets installed, and everything put back together.

@RodLyle, I change my answer.
Sounds like a bargain….he!! I’d get them replaced twice at that cost…
Since you outwardly didn’t like the original helpful response and the attempt to keep YOUR thread on topic.

I'm a bit confused is this happening over 4 different MHs or is this a single repair?

Also, is there any unusual difficulty accessing the engine bay with this rig.

As mentioned by someone else, what are the conditions that led up to the issue. No sense paying for an expensive repair only to repeat it because the root cause was not addressed.

Let me chime in. At that price you are getting robbed. And the guy with the 8.3, you really got robbed. Facts.

So, . . . what year is this Ford V-10/MH? What is the GVWR? What is the actual operating weight? What is the length? Do you tow? What is your normal driving speed? Do you use 87 octane(min) fuel? Have you modified the ECU/engine/transmission/exhaust/driveline in any way?

Just a few questions before Ford gets sent to the gallows. (again)

Are you feeling ok?

Sure. Never better. Clearly, you are approaching this issue from the grease pit side of things. (Where I have spent many hours as well) I'm approaching it from the engineering side of things where I have also spent many hours.

Cheers! Go ahead, . . . . repair the damage. My approach is to, . . . . solve the problem first. Then, . . . . fix the damage. If you just fix the damage without solving the problem, IMO, you're just kicking the can down the road. (and putting a few $$$$ in your pocket)

Huh?
Dude needs a repair and is asking if the price is ok….no angle to take. Neither he nor I nor you are going to re-engineer his exhaust manifolds.

This is EXACTLY the response I would expect from you. Expect no further reply.

next time i ask a question you two need not reply

^Cool.
Then it will help the thread stay on topic and hopefully useful to the person seeking information.
