Maxie flow chokes Fantastic Fan.....

I installed the fantastic fan and went to put a Maxieflow over it. The cover does not allow the lid to open fully! So I figured I would build my own 2 inch aluminum lift kit on two side of the cover. Well with the fan on full speed the air flow coming from under the cover where it is all open on two sides is a lot.

So me thinks the screen in the Maxiflow is too restrictive and could be taken out or is there some other way to do this??

Thank you for your input to my question. was going to remove the screen but I have noted too that the mounting brakets will not mount to this fan assembly like the others!!!??

According to the additional images on CW's site, the ultrabreeze vents are not angled like the maxx air. They are saying that slows down some of the air flow. As I would imagine a screen would as well.

I would stick with one brand to minimize compatibility issues.

I already had my Max Air covers and the reason given to me for not recommending the use of the Max Air by FF themselves has always been because of the lid openingโ€ฆ

The one thing the video proves is that opening the lid farther wasnโ€™t what was needed as it was opened only 3 inches for the demonstration to accommodate the different covers and still allowing for full airflow using their coverโ€ฆ that leaving the difference to be something else not the lid positionโ€ฆ

So what are the differences causing the air flow differencesโ€ฆ what I found with the old Max Air I have is they came with standard screening over the louvered portion of the coverโ€ฆ the screen not the lid and not the louvers being the most limiting factorโ€ฆ the cover used in the demonstration doesnโ€™t come with the screening and obviously with all of the demonstrations and comparisons not once did they add their optional screening to see what that does to air flowโ€ฆ

As I said in my earlier post remove the standard screening if you have Max Air or any other brand with screening and the flow will be at least close to using their coverโ€ฆ

I hate marketingโ€ฆ or as it would be more appropriately called professional lyingโ€ฆ but it works, most people buy into it so easilyโ€ฆ
Put a marketer and a product liability lawyer together in one room and the results can be lethalโ€ฆ

I am not knocking their product but these demonstrations are almost always designed for the product โ€ฆ in other words the deck is usually stacked by only including that which you know will wow the viewerโ€ฆ now maybe their cover has a few more sq. in of louvers to, but wouldnโ€™t make a lot of differenceโ€ฆ

If you want to know do a little simple test of your ownโ€ฆ stand in front of a box fan blowing on your face then place a screen between it and yourself and see how limiting screen can beโ€ฆ

Go to the Ultrabeeze vent sales page here and the video is at the bottom. We are getting two fantastic fans installed this week and 3 of the ultrabreeze vents. One of the vents is going over the bathroom vent with the regular little fan in it. Not expecting different outcome there, just getting it rather than a Maxx Air vent cover due to aestethic reasons.

Maxxair is not recommended for power vents. Use Maxxair II or fantastic fan for power vents. The Maxxair II has more venting on the side. I moved my Maxxair to a none power vent and installed Maxair II over power vents in bedroom and bathroom. Worked just fine.

Not having the exact same coverโ€ฆ
Everything in the path of the air flow is a restriction, to some very small extent even the fully opened lid and the inside screen is a restrictionโ€ฆ
The cover redirecting the flow, the louvers and the screen covering the louvers could or would all add flow restrictionsโ€ฆ

The lid not fully opening isnโ€™t a big deal though, the air has to be redirected anyway and the lid opens far enough to maybe even be more efficient at directing the air toward the outlet than if it were allowed to hit straight upโ€ฆ the air is going to take the path of least resistance and some will always come out around the bottom due to the high volume of air they try to push outโ€ฆ

I use the standard Max Air covers that do not allow the lid to fully open eitherโ€ฆ
If I were you I would remount the cover the proper way so as to prevent splashing rain water from getting in and not worry about itโ€ฆ to reduce restrictions some remove the screen covering the louvered area if it has themโ€ฆ
