Need a new water pump

My Sureflo 4008 water pump has died after less than 2 years. I pulled it apart but can't see anything wrong. It runs but will not prime even using the winterizing port. Am I missing something?

Should I go back to the same pump or is there a better one out there?

Thanks for your help.

I went with the Gold Standard as recommended by the RVWaterFilterStore.

Sounds good. Our AquaFlow has 55 gallons a minute but at 55psi.
I like 85 psi in shower.
Just have to make sure older plumbing will stand up to it.
I wonder if the hookup is the same, of one plug and two hoses?

New pump came in today and it's trying to pump but getting a lot of air. Will drop the Coroplast this weekend and see what's going on.

I have the same pump and after taking it apart several times to clean diaphragm it still would not pump water. I applied a thin silicone sealer at the parting line where the rubber diaphragm is supposed to seal to the flanges and it works well again. My Sureflow pump is 20 years old. The leak at the parting plane was hard to see.

You have checked the filter in the intake line..yes? Mine plugged and it was only as I was installing the new pump, that I saw the plugged filter.

Cracked diaphram maybe? Had that happen on a boat pump once. Easy to miss. Air getting in on the tank side of the pump? Improperly fitting connection? Everything turned off on the house side of the pump?

Those pumps can be very reliable. Ours has run 7 seasons & pumped tens of thousands of gallons. We don't use CG water. We fill our own tank through a water softener then draw from the tank.

Of course we have insurance on hand. A new pump in the box ready to go. You just know that the original will never fail with a spare on hand.

You might want to look and see if it is stuck again. If there's some trash in the line a new pump may have the same issue. They are such a simple device there really isn't much that can go wrong besides a stuck valve or a torn diaphragm which is pretty obvious.

Took the pump apart again and the check valve was moving freely, I flushed it just to make sure. Pump still not priming. Went ahead and ordered new pump on Amazon and will be here Tuesday. I'll update once installed to let everyone know how it wored

A cheat way to prime the pump- assuming water flow might clear the trash- is to use a wet dry vac on a faucet.

First, be SURE there is no air leak on the suction side at any of the fittings. I would think that since you have the same issue at the 'winterizing port' that the trouble lies between there and the pump (or in the pump). That said, I had a similar problem and decided that since it wasn't working, I wouldn't lose anything by taking it apart so I carted the pump into the house to the kitchen table. What I found after carefully dismantling it was that the check valve on the input side of the pump was mechanically stuck in a slightly open position. Touching it instantly freed it although I could not see why it had stuck. The clearances on the valves were very close and my assumption is that a tiny speck of something too small for my ancient eyes to see got stuck in the valve. I rinsed the valve body in the sink, reassembled it and it has worked fine for a year now.

Found the same issue, stuck check valve, cleaned it, reassembled and still not working. I guess I'll just order a new pump, $69 on Amazon for a newer version. Hopefully will last longer than 2 years.

Winterizing port? Have you disconnected the pump input from the tank and attempted to prime from a jug of water? If it does the pump is fine.

I call it the winterizing port, it's where you suck the antifreeze into the water lines. That didn't work either.

The pump just hums, can't tell it's on unless you are almost touching it.
