New B&W Ram 5th wheel hitch

I got my new truck and yesterday my new hitch arrived. This is the B&W RVK3600 for the Ram factory tow prep option. I had a Superglide 3300 in my last truck that has been flawless for 7 years but to run any Pullrite hitch in this truck would require and adaptor and I did not want to do that so on the recommendation of several on here I looked at the B&W that sits right in the factory mounts. First impression is good, this thing is heavy and well made. I did have to make a few leg adjustments to get it in but install was very easy by myself and my hoist. Took about 1.5 hours. Will not be able to pull anything until this weekend and I will update. Just though some might like to see it if you have not already.

  • Sweet! Looks great.

I go to the trucking company tomorrow morning to pick up my new B & W. Don't have the (new) truck yet, that should be later this week or early next week I'm told. Can't wait. :B

  • That is a heavy duty hitch, hence the added weight of the base. The Ram pucks are further apart, than the Ford pucks. The Companion base for OEM Ford is much lighter, but not rated as high as the 3600.

It will be interesting to hear your thoughts after hookup, and towing. Your previous hitch was of good quality too.

It is nice to just set it in there and lock the handles, no drilling on that new truck!

    Happy towing,
    Jerry
  • That is one sweet hitch. I helped my friend put one in his Ram back in Ohio. We will be putting one in a blue oval tomorrow or next day here at the campground in Fla. Not cheap, but really well built. Enjoy.
  • I think I am ordering one for my 2014 Megacab. Did you have enough vertical adjustment to get the trailer level while hooked up?
  • That is the best non air ride hitch on the market! Good call on the RAM/B&W combo.
  • I put mine in this past weekend....Won't get to tow with it until early March, but really looking forward to testing it out. Didn't have to do any adjustments with mine, Fit in the four puck holes and locked down with enough resistance to feel everything fit and locked into place just fine...(I had to adjust on the picture frame adapter lock downs)..The jaws on this hitch are massive.

I have not hooked up yet but the height range to the top of the plate is 17" to 19" from the bed. I set mine at 17". These new trucks are so tall I am afraid I may be about 3 inches nose high even with my pin box all the way up. Will know this weekend when I do some testing.

Please let us know how it goes as that is my worry as well. Another reason I am shying away from a pull rite auto slider because I would need the picture frame adapter thereby raising it even more. I'm hoping I can use the b&w 3600 and set the legs as far back as they go (away from the cab), and that along with the cutout front corners in a 2015 xlr thunderbolt toy hauler) will give me enough cab clearance and sufficient height above the bed rails.

I initially set mine at 19", doing some experimenting....too high, dropped down to middle height of 18", at that point it appears I'm basically at the same height with this set up as I was with the picture frame adapter and the Reese 20K Signature hitch.. I actually hitched up in driveway and am going by where I set before...Will know better also when I tow.

Keep us posted on your towing experience and let us know if you had to re-adjust your hitch height....

    thanks,
    Jim
  • I know some people swear by Andersen's light weight pyramid style hitch but seriously look a this B&W 3600 rated to tow 25K and then look at the Andersen rated to tow 24K. Something just doesn't jive! Like the Craftsman shop vacs that "develop" 6hp.

Really nice being able to drop your hitch into a factory puck system!
