New base plates installed

I have installed some new base plates on my 2014 JEEP Wrangler Unlimited which I am using with the Roadmaster Falcon tow bar. After hooking up for our trip, I noticed some 'play' between the width of the tow bar and base plate bracket..looks to be about 1/4 inch, I am thinking about shimming up with washers as the tow bar slides between the sides of bracket. I figure this may cause JEEP to track awkward/off kilter..??..?? Am I thinking along the right lines??? Any opinions/ideas would be appreciated.....
  • mine has a little play also...but with tension on it it should be fine.
  • I have a Demco baseplate with Demco Commander bars. Pretty snug but a little space on mine too - no issues at all when towing though. I think maybe that is normal - when you are pulling weight on it probably not going to move much.
