New to me 2006 Pilgrim M-267BHSS

Just picked this guy up this weekend. Definently not the lightest campers, dry weight is around 6700lbs and GVWR is around 9600lbs. First real pull with the excursion, did good once I got up to speed just lumbered along at 2600rpm. Noticed the huge spread from second to third, there was no chance at all towing in OD so just locked it out.

In the picture the trailer looks level but the X is sagging. Since I don't have the money to do a complete spring swap right now I ordered up the airlift 5000 series air bags. These will let me air down to still be able to store the X in the garage when not towing.

  • I was on the third chain with that one, this next weekend when I'm off work was going to pull it to the school up here (flat) and try 4 or 5 links if needed. The trailer has a hitch weight of right around 800lbs, and the X is known for having softer leaf springs than the F250.

However, driving it felt like it had good control. It squatted maybe 3-4" when I put it on there, but without anything hooked up there is not much rake in the rear so I expected to need to "address" the squat in the rear.
  • Looks like the TT has unloaded your front end a fair amount, can you transfer more weight with your hitch?
