I'm looking for some opinions on the best reasonable solution on a purchase I'm in the process of making.I'm picking up a new 5th wheel Toyhauler this week and did a quick look at it yesterday. I haven't done the full walk thru yet, but noticed two very minor scratches and a small dent (fairly small) in the refrigerator. I'm buying it from camping world and it was a unit they ordered for me. Any input on the best reasonable expectation when I bring this up to them? I'm not trying to capitalize on the issue as I would rather not have the blemish, but would like it to look completely new given how much it cost. I also know I might be in for more hassle trying to get it back to new.Thanks for any input !

I'm not sure where the scratches are, but is something I'd want touched up. Sometimes these little things, I'd rather do myself, than have someone that doesn't care make a bigger mess of it.If a dent in the fridge door, that should be replaced under warranty. It takes a while to get things from the factory, but make sure to get it in writing, that a damaged item will be replaced.Jerry

Man, that thing should be perfect before you pay for it and take it home. Once you've handed over the dough and taken possession you've lost a ton of bargaining power. It just becomes much easier for them to make excuses why they can't get done what you want.We spent about 4 hours doing our PDI and they fixed everything before we took possession. They wanted us to sign the papers before the PDI but we made sure we did the inspection before.It's hindsight now, but I wish we had known about the problem with the Chinese ST tires when we bought it. We would have made arrangements to have different tires, even if it cost some extra money.

You can use these miir issues as a test of the dealership after the sale service. If they seem unresponsive, or give you you a run around then the chances of of them taking care of you on a major issue. You are paying good money for the unit. You should expect, and receive, a quality product.if they fix everything to your satisfaction quickly and without question, then they will merit your business after the sale. But be firm in your expectations and dont let a salesman convince you that these minor things are common and that you should just grin and bear it..

Make note of it and don't sign the receiving papers until those are fixed. If the dent is on the refrigerator panel, that likely can be replaced very easily (unless the dent is so deep it punches to the metal backing the panel.)

Since your a Hokie and live in VA I can only assume you are buying from CW in Roanoke. We are in Roanoke as well. They could probably replace the refrigerator door and not the whole unit which is what I would ask them to do. The less a dealer has to mess with things the better. Happy camping.

If it were me I would make two lists: those things I want fixed and won't budge on and a second list of more minor issues. Give in on some of the minor issues to make sure I get all the major ones fixed.

If buying a new RV, car, truck, or whatever I expect perfection. No touch-ups, patches, or band-aids allowed.
