I'm thinking about trading my old Fleetwood Bounder for a used 2003 Newmar Kountry Star. The Newmar has 85K miles and looks pretty clean. Are their any particular issues that I should be on the lookout for. I'm not farmiliar with Newmar, so any feedback will ne appreciated. Thanks.

We own a 2004 gas Newmar Kountry Star. We've had it since new, and have experienced very few problems with it. It currently has about 77,000 miles on it. There was the brake recall, and a recall on the dash package. Our dash readouts have, on occasion since the repair, gone crazy for a moment - losing all readings, but they always come right back on. There was also a recall on the fuel rail clip on the 2004, and a recall to put a heat shield on the fridge.

We have done maintenance as required, and the unit is parked inside when not in use. The finish has held up well. We are still on the original Dometic refrigerator, and the air conditioners and water heater are all original and, when last used, worked fine. We have had a couple of trim strips come loose inside the coach, but no cabinets have sagged or come loose. We have never had a water leak. We have replaced the slide toppers and the inside front pleated windshield curtain.

Maintenance records should let you know if the coach has received the proper attention over its life.

We have driven ours on roads that were somewhat suspect, including the Dalton Highway in Alaska - all the way to Deadhorse. Didn't even develop a rattle.
