Norcold refrigerator another story

My brother-in-law last summer had his refrigerator quit on them. he had a whole new one put in. It worked about a month and quit cooling, it was still under warranty. But all Norcold would replace was the cooling unit. So he had that changed out. It still didn't cool good. The repair told him it was not getting enough air in the vent. So he had the guy cut a larger vent space in the side of the coach, put a larger vent door plus put in a another 12 volt fan just above the new vent door. . He now says that thing cools just as good as a residential refrigerator. They are full timers. I'm thinking I may try that.
What do you guys think??

    RV MFGs.........they FAIL Installation 101

Norcold, Dometic and Atwood ALL have 'Instructions/Installation' documents that provide REQUIRED clearances, off sets, fan/air flow KITS, baffling info etc etc etc

MAJORITY of 'My RV Fridge doesn't cool' issues are direct result of RV MFG improper installation........BUT RV Fridge gets BLAMED.

IF interested ....one only need to Goggle their Specific Brand/Model Installation Manual/Service Manual to see what the required clearances/installation instructions are and IF your RV MFG came close.

    X2

I have had to install a baffle and a fan in two of mine (a TT and my current TC) On both I went from "melty ice cream" to "I cant turn it down far enough to avoid the rock hard ice cream"

  • My Norcold 811 cools just like my res fridge does. I wonder if the OEM hole was too small to begin with?
