Painting vent cover?

I have a fantastic fan in the bedroom of the RV. It has a black or smoke colored cover. When we are camping, i like a dark room. In the morning that cover does not filter out the light. I was thinking of painting the cover white to block all light, and help reflect the sun for heat protection. Thoughts?

    I painted mine. There are times when the morning sun or overhead lighting is bothersome.

    How about a blackout shade made for it that snaps on? SEM makes some aerosols to pain plastics as well as products necessary to prep and help,the paint adhere to plastic.

    Simpler solution, they have a cushion that fits from the inside. Insulates the opening and blocks the light very well. Plus in a couple years you don't have covers that are peeling because paint doesn't stick well to the plastic.

    I have one, but sometimes it will just pop out on its own and wake us up.

    I wiped mine off and sprayed it with $1.00 home depot flat black 3 years ago.

    Painted tube outside of mine with flat black. Masked off surrounding roof and 3 min later... Done. Lasted over 2 years before recoat was needed. The winter cover rubbed off a line on the top of the vent.

    Next time I would use a medium blue to give the illusion of sunny day when waking up.

    I made a "plug" for the vent in our bedroom out of some sheet styrofoam I already had, just big enough so it wedges into the vent. I wrapped the edge of the styrofoam with a strip of wide masking tape. It's been there 3 years, no problem. Cost: 0 dollars.
