patio mat?

We full timed for several years and had a nice patio, easy to clean and store. We let it go when we sold our 5th wheel.

We just bought a used motor home and now we have to start all over finding the things we need (want).

We don't care for the large weave mats or the grassy ones.. We like to be able to sweep it or hose it off.

An suggestions?

Thanks

Carefree Awning Mats They aren't cheap, but IMHO worth the cost. We ordered ours from PPL.

We use a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet.

Of course you can buy a piece of it cut to any size you want ... easy and inexpensive to replace ever so often too. We store it wrapped up in a the large size contractor-strength trash barrel liner bag ... mostly to keep the dust, dirt, and water (if it rains) on it out of the compartment where we store it.

We replaced our old piece of astroturf (after 3 years it was getting pretty ratty), with a nice 9'X12" polypropelene (sp?), mat that we found at the RV show in Quartzite last January. After a little shopping we found that though many vendors were selling them they varied in quality quite a bit. We got ours for $44 and it came with a nice zippered storage bag and was a little heavier than most of the others. After nearly a year of heavy use it still looks like new and the storage bag is very convenient. I'm sure they will be available at the Q again this year. :C

I went to Lowes and bought the fake grass on a big roller sold by the foot and bought 40' for about $200.00 Going on 7 years of use. All the other mats sold for camping never lasted more than two seasons before lawn furniture wore hole's in um. I just roll it back up when done using. Only wear is where I hammer the stakes in on the corners. I did put grommets in the mat. When they wear out, I replace them.

We bought a large mesh one last year after a few years of using indoor/outdoor type carpets and I'll never go back to those. The mesh stays cleaner, folds easier and is a fraction of the weight. We've had ours for 2 full years and it's still like new.

I don't know what alternatives you have. I do know the weaved mats dry much faster, what's not to care for? You can sweep the weave mats easily and they are better when hosed off as they dry faster.

They are also much lighter and easier to fold and store. I bought a small electric blower with a collapsible nozzle.(Troybilt). Very easy to blow off carpets to keep nice and tidy!

We have for the last 10 years or so used boat carpeting from home depot, they have it on a huge roll with all the other carpet, we use Stratos grey.
We also keep an 18 volt ryobi blower in the basement storage and blow it off as needed, our first one lasted 8 years including being down year round in michigan winters for the last 4. Oh and it comes 6 or 8 foot wide (dont remember) in as long as you want to pay for. The price is quite cheap as well.

I did q topic ...Awning mats in the General RVing issues and talked about the mat we bought.

The thing is a lot of CG are only letting you use a mat that does not damage the grass underneath.

We spent around $160 Canadian and well worth it.

Just my opinion but those mats that have the large weave tend do tear/ fray easily. We have had them as well as on our deck.
The other issue is that they are not grass friendly, IMO

I realize a lot are sold, usually under $50. Maybe the price is what dictates the sales.

We looked all over this weekend and found WM was the cheapest ($49)locally.

But I wish I would have waited and looked on Amazon. This one is much better and comes with a bag.

The fine mesh mats from Harbor Freight are inexpensive, work well too and don't kill the grass under the mat.
