I buy gallon jugs of distilled water for drinking, cooking and coffee. They're cheap. I found that jugs of "Drinking Water" often had an "off" taste. Perfectly safe, but sometimes it had a hint of "iron". Now I just hook up to the CG water to fill the fresh tank and use that for the outside of me. I'm waterproof.

It doesn't hurt to pour the chlorox into the end of your white hose then fill the tank. It just might sanitize the hose as well as the tank.
That's how we do it.

Actually it depends on if you are using a 5% chlorine bleach or a 8.25% chlorine bleach. Both are commonly sold in the store.

But in the end it boils down to this - 100 ppm concentration (of chlorine) for 1 hour contact time or 50 ppm concentration (of chlorine) for 4 hour contact time.

For bleach with a 8.25% concentration (of chlorine) that would mean:
1.5 oz bleach per 10 gal water for 1 hour (100 ppm)
3/4 oz bleach per 10 gal water for 4 hours (50 ppm)

For bleach with 5% chlorine content multiply above numbers by 1.65.

USE regular Clorox and DO NOT use scented.

Winnebago recommends 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons to keep it sanitized thereafter when filling it. We do that and have had great results. We do have a filter under the sink that removes any chlorox smell from cold water. Doing that I don't worry much about the white hose. I do spray the spigot we fill from as well as the connection on the RV with lysol. I don't remember the initial sanitizing formula, but 1/4 cup sounds about right which I do every spring after dewinterizing.
