ProPride setup hints

Awaiting my new 3P to be delivered tomorrow. I assume install/setup is pretty well covered in the instructions that come with. But, are there any hints/tips you found that helps with getting it installed and dialed in?

And...once installed....my local storage lot insists on my dropping off the trailer, and then they take it into the lot and park it. They much prefer having access to the ball coupler for their tractor to use. Will this be an issue with the 3P? What does your dealer or other do to move your trailer with a 3P around when you drop off for service, etc?
  • To make sure the stinger goes in the hitch correctly, do NOT turn you truck steering wheel the last 5 to 10 feet as you back up. I lay a rope down from the hitch along the line I want the stinger to travel. Then all I need to do is keep the stinger over the rope.

I am sure other posting talk about other ways to get the stinger in the hole straight.

A Hitch - Helper will make your life simpler.
  • If you make one, just use a 2-5/16 coupler instead of the 2". That being said, I don't think a trailer is going to pop off the larger ball just being towed/pushed around the dealer lot. I just leave my stinger with the dealer.

Yes, moving the trailer with the Propride or a Hensley will be an issue for the dealer or your storage lot. There is a solution however. Take a look at this post for some ideas on how to do it.

I'm in this position now, needing to take my camper in for some work to be done on it. Sean at Propride sells a "Lot Bar". Similar to what Barney is talking about. The only issue I see with either option is the coupler is for a 2" ball. Most dealers that use a tractor to move trailers around use a 2 5/16" ball since the vast majority of campers have a 2 5/16" coupler. I'm not sure if it's worth spending the money making or buying one of these if the dealer has to go to the trouble of changing out the ball just to move your camper. Might as well just leave them your stinger and tell them to use a Lot Truck.

Just a side note. Sean explained to me the reason for the 2" coupler is so people don't try to actually tow their camper with the lot bar attached. It's strictly to move it around a storage lot or dealer lot when in for work to be done.
