I've noticed a lot of holding tank (Black & Grey) threads over the last few months.RidEx is about the best and safest thing in the world for cleaning the tanks and sensors. It is campground friendly;it is mean for septic systems.I use it by filling my tank(s) half way and adding a few oz. then letting them sit. The warmer the better. If we traveling 2-3 months I use it between campgrounds.If you want to see how well it does just drain your tank before you use them and you'd be surprised at what comes out.You can get it at Lowes Walmart and Home Depot for sure.Just an FYI

It appears to be full of bacteria that would aid in breaking down the solids in a septic tank. But it cleans the RV tank and sensors as well? I personally don't think I need to start the solids breakdown process while sitting in my holding tanks.

All the particles that cling to the bottom and sides of the tank will turn to stone. The "good " bacteria in a septic cleaner will help to prevent this.

Rid-X after dumping (so it could work for a few days) followed by a spray wand during dump time took care of the problem after half a dozen dumping's. I used a see thru fitting and actual chunks were being passed down the stinky slinky.

I've never felt compelled to "clean" waste holding tanks.

I have used Ridx over 16 winters at my winter spot that dumps into a septic system. It works very well but it never has cleaned the sensors as they have always showed Full when empty or not.I dump the black tank every 14 days needed or not. Gray is open until 2 days before dumping the black.

Rid ex is one of the class of tank treatments I do endorse.. Biological, non chemical.. The chemical treatments are a waste of time and money. But the biologicals can not hurt.. In fact some of them may actually help.

I'm not convinced they help but if you got to put something in the tank, they are the best choice.. I may try it on my Gray tank.

I can see using this stuff if, and only if you have a solids build up in your tank....otherwise you're just wasting money. Using soap and water when traveling, will keep the tank free of sticking solids and also keep the sensors working properly.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Because RVers empty their tanks often and many use other chemicals, using Rid-X does absolutely nothing. It's meant for septic tanks that aren't drained continuously. Try using just a lot of water and you'll notice the same difference.
