Has anybody bought an New Rv off of eBay. What is every bodies thoughts the good the bad and the ugly lol Clint Eastwood But seriously I look at layouts and floor plans and they seem to have a good starting price so wondered if this was an option for our next purchase. Thanks in advance Scott

I did!We had looked locally at new rvs, used rvs and from other individuals. I found the floorplan that I liked and went from there.I found the rv on ebay, but it was located in RI, about 10 hrs from us. He had a "BUY IT NOW" price set, but I knew I couldn't get the money together before the end date, so I sent the seller. I told him to let me know if he did not sell it, I would be interested in purchase. We worked out all of the pertinent info through phone calls and email. DH and a friend of his took off on Friday evening after work, went part ways, spent the night and got there early Saturday afternoon. They looked at it and made sure it was what we wanted and what had been advertized, gave him a certified check from our bank (He had previously spoken with the bank) and DH took off pulling the trailer home. He deposited the check and when it cleared, he sent us the title for the trailer. We saved over $8,000 off the cost of a new one and it was $3500 cheaper (including expenses) of a used one at a local dealer.We both did lots of checking out of each other, so we knew this was not a scam on either of our parts. It worked for us.

When I lived in OH I purchase a used TT from ebay that was located in GA. I did not pay until I went to pick up the TT. When I saw the TT, I loved it. I would have paid $$$$ more. Very good deal. I had several phone conversations with the seller before I purchased.

We bought our current class C new via eBay. After unsuccessfully looking for a specific RV chassis/plan and not wanting to order one from a manufacturer, I turned to eBay and found exactly what I wanted in a year old model at a mom and pop RV business in western PA. I contacted the business, negociated and sealed the deal via email pending personal inspection, drove the 1200 miles from Nebraska, and drove it home. We rented a tow dolly for our car after the initial break-in mileage and have had a wonder experience overall.The only issues we experienced were this unit had been sitting on the dealers lot for an extended time and the AC failed prematurely, and I removed and reglued the 6 panel closet door as the rough roads we often traverse was no match for the panel doors original glue. Our dealer was great to work with, and the unit was perfect when we showed up for inspection. All in all, I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Being expereinced RVers, were felt confident doing our own inspection, your mileage may vary.

E-Bay is a good place to advertise do the buy off line ..

I have bought 2 RVs off ebay, both from private parties. One was in Michigan and the other in Ohio. Lots of phone calls and exchange of info to make sure we were on the same page. No money changed hands until I arrived to pick it up. Both deals worked out fine.I would think dealing with a dealer for a new unit would be much easier/safer.

So true!!

The protection comes from being smart. and follow common sense. no money ahead of the buy, no money with out seeing the item. simple stuff like that.

I've bought 2 used ones and a buddy bought a new Outback on Ebay...no issues either way.

This is true,, that is why you go see the item and pay after inspection.

I've bought cars on Ebay and have generally no qualms about buying big-ticket items. Seller reviews are very useful; sometimes you can find out more from them than you can know about a dealer.

The biggest problem would be getting one from a dealer and not being able to do a pre-delivery inspection. Sometimes even new rvs have significant issues. For that reason I would recommend pickup over delivery.

we sold our 25 foot big foot on e-bay. buyer came looked and we did the inter bank money transfer. he towed it home.

I bought my Mobile Suites via Ebay from a dealer. The only thing I would do differently next time is actually go and pick it up so I can do the delivery inspection. Mine arrived minus an A/C unit. DRV did pay for the install of one they drop shipped to me,,, but it was wasted time and travel for me.
