RV Park destroyed in Tornado DFW last night

Having went thru what would likely now be a F5 in Wicthita Falls over 50 years ago, I am appropriately phobic about tornadoes. When we travel in the areas, we make sure every park we stay at has a shelter available. Locals seem to be so lackadaisical about them. Until they happen. We also adjust our travels depending upon predictions. We were on our way to Tulsa from Biloxi via DFW in 2013. Been a slow tornado year. Long range predictions for DFW suggested the possibility, so we stayed south heading towards Albuquerque. The Dallas area had one. As did Moore, OK.

The Associated Press article in our local newspaper referred to it as a "mobile home park".
I guess the "Professional Media" folks actually ARE as clueless as we have suspected!
I am glad there was only property damage, and no damaged people.

I spoke to the park today. Yes - Plantation Place was the park hit by the tornado.

There were no injuries, everyone had been moved into a safe area in the buildings. Many rigs were destroyed including the Class A pictured above. The park is 'non-functional' but hopes to reopen in a couple months.

From the TV helicopter footage, it looks like Plantation Place RV 345 Barnes Bridge Road, Sunnyvale, TX.

RV Reviews - Plantation Place RV it is right near the Sunnyvale/ Garland city limits line.

Used to drive past there, through the worst damage area, frequently. It is mostly full-timers, with relatively few transit rigs. Does have some winter Texans.

Looks like it was the first place hit when the tornado touched down in Garland.

We were sitting at East Fort COE Park on Lake Lavon. We and several folks moved to the bathhouse when the tornado wave got close. I saw something which might have been one above the ground a mile or so to the east. Just a glimpse.

When it came back down in Copeville, it was just three miles from us across the lake.

There is a worker RV park just a couple hundred yards from the intersection where the two people died. No damage reported there or the Lavonia COE Park which is less than a mile away.
