Sewer Donut

I carried a donut for a few years. Still new in the package when I threw it out. Just use an elbow fitting as shown above and you are good to go. Worst case buy it from their store on demand.

We also carry a donut, but have never been required to use it.

Be prepared, using the sewer donut is an aggravating experience!

I also carry a couple of smooth PVC to thread adapters with me. I have one for Schedule 40 PVC and one for Schedule 20 PVC. I also carry a doughnut but haven't used it. Most of the sewer connections are threaded already or my adapter works.

I've seen people just plop a cheap sewer hose down the hole... result is usually quite smelly with a nice backflow, especially if the hose is well jammed in there that the sewage can't flow down the pipe.

I've had quite good luck with the screw-on fittings. I use that, and have no leaks, no mess.

It's not just campgrounds that make the seals mandatory. Some state or local laws also mandate it.

Yup if you don't have the elbow connection for your sewer hose the CG will gladly let you buy the sewer donut from their little store.

That said some CG's do not have a sewer connection that you can tightly screw the elbow connection into. Then you DO have to have the donut.

I carry one with me even though I have the threaded elbow connection for sewer connections that are not the right size or not threaded.

There is nothing as bad as being parked next to someone that just opens the sewer pipe and throws the hose in letting sewer smells emit all over the place and smells even worse when they go to dump.

I appreciate CG's that make it mandatory to have the elbow connection or make you buy one of their donuts! :C

We also used a donut around our sewer hose at the RV connection area. Our hose fed up through a large hole and then connected to the dump valve. That large hole was a perfect place for critters to enter.

We sliced the donut on one side so we could wrap it around the hose & fit it into the hole opening. A small gap was left and we jammed it with a piece of steel wool. No more critters!

The doughnut is required for a tight seal to keep rainwater out and smells in.
If you use an lose fitting, unthreaded elbow you still need a doughnut.
