First post here, would appreciate you help on the following.I am looking at a Prime Time Fury model 2910. GVWR of this rig is 9723, (based on the company brochure)and the rig is listed at 34'6" with a dry tongue weight of 923 lbs. Tow vehicle is a 2016 F150 with 3.5 ECB engine ,3.55 gearing and Max Tow. Payload is rated at 1989 lbs. Truck was ordered as a fleet vehicle and they backed out. Truck is set up to be used as a tow vehicle.My question is would this trailer be a wise choice to purchase based on the fact that I have never towed anything larger that a 12 ft. cargo trailer. I would be purchasing a good WDH and already have the sway package on the truck but would get a hitch with it also.I feel confident that the truck would be able to handle the weights but not sure of the wind effect on that long of a trailer. Most towing would be in Ky. but have family in Ohio and Florida but want to go out west for an extended trip.Thanks for all you comments and appreciate the help.

What is the Dry weight and CCC of the trailer? Is the truck a regular cab, extended cab, crew cab?I just looked up the trailers specs, dry weight is 7262lbs and the CCC is 2461. So with approx 1200-1500 lbs (usually a good number to add) added to the dry weight that would put you at approx 8500lbs. That's a lot to ask of a half ton even the eco boost! I'm towing a similar dry weight TT and it weighs 9k lbs ready to travel. I'm towing with an Excursion essentially a 3/4 ton. It will do it but you may be kicking yourself after the first long trip.Good luck.

Truck is a Super Crew with a 5.5 ft. bed.The UVW is 7,262 lbs. and the CCC is 2,461 lbs. Did not think that this was relavent given the GVWR of the trailer. Sorry for thinking too much.:S

Thanks, dodgeguy. I may be overthinking again, but as I stated I am not as concerned with the weight as I am with the length of the rig.I am not saying that the tow will be a breeze, I am certain the engine will be working, but I am more concerned with sail effect at this time.Thanks again.

I guess it can be done, but it is a tall order for any 1/2 ton truck. Our toyhauler is a couple of feet shorter and weighs in at nearly 10K# loaded with water and toys, without toys it comes in over 8500#s. I have a 3/4 ton Chevy HD and I wouldn't want to tow any heavier than this, although most of our towing is between 6K' and 10K' elevation which certainly effects the power delivered by a gasser. I imagine on mostly flat terrain nearer to sea level you will have better towing results, coming to the mountain west region fully loaded will make for a totally different towing experience. Length can be dealt with by using a quality weight distribution-sway control hitch.You are going to have close to 1200 lbs of tongue weight (maybe a little less depending...). This only leaves you about 700 lbs of payload left for passengers, gear, stuff in the bed etc. Doable, but pushing it.Personally, I'd be more comfortable it your truck was also equipped with the optional - heavy duty Payload package. With a name like "Fury" I'm guessing it's a toy hauler.

A few members get their panties in a wad when someone doesn't do as as they do .....or do as they suggest....and make mountains out of mole hills.
Most don't care if a op chooses to do it his way or choose another posters suggestions. Thats the good and bad of a forums where everyone has a opinion.

Just stay under your trucks axle/tire/wheel.rear suspension rating....or upgrade them if needed.

After some thought, I have decided to forgo this trailer and start the process again. I am thinking that I will go with a travel trailer with a GVW of no more that 7000 lbs.

The one I have in mind is a Winnebago Minnie with a dry weight of 3500/4000 lbs. I really dont think that there is any way I would ever put 3000+ lbs. in a trailer.

The truck will have no problems pulling what ever Ford tow rating is.....BUT with some of the new high GVWR F150 with the high gvwr based payload. Some owners have reported being under their gvwr or payload number but over on the trucks RAWR which is the biggest safety concern.
Some folks chose the wrong 1/2 ton truck to pull their trailer and for some reason make the wrong assumption all 1/2 ton trucks are the same as the one they chose. It helps to be informed.

Truck makers tow rating are for all types of trailers...not just a rv trailer. Your truck would have no problems pulling my 10k car hauler as we can load the trailer in a way to keep the truck under its rear axle/tire load ratings.

We need the trucks gvwrGVWR and its rawrRAWR to make a informed decision if the truck can carry the load involved with a large TT.

I have no experience with Blue Ox. I did tow a 34' TT for 10 years with a Chevy 2500H using a Reese Dual Cam setup. I absolutely loved that hitch. The truck and trailer always felt like a single unit. Yes I got pushed by bow wave from semis but never any sway. I pulled in many situations with strong crosswinds.....no sway, no wiggle, just solid straight line towing.

How about if you poke around on Craigslist and see if you can find an inexpensive WD hitch setup? I routinely see them in my area for $100 or less. You could buy one of them to use during test drives just to see how things go. Even if it's not perfect it will help and then if you need a better setup you could sell it and probably get just about all your $$ back.

I'm not going to tell you yes or no, and I'm no professional driver! But, I have the 2012 F150 ECO, listed in my sig, and pulled the TT listed all over Florida and S. GA without issue.

Mine is the 6.5' foot bed, 3.73 gears, and the TT weighted about 6600 lbs traveling. No issues, smooth as can be, 10.2 mpg at 63 mph, and just solid & quite.

An extra three or four feet, and 2500 lbs in my opion would change that !

For long term use and fun, I would look for a shorter and lighter TT!

I already own the truck, so changing is not an option.

As you noticed many feel the trailer is too heavy for a light truck like the f150. A lot of these guys have been in the same situation as you and ended up changing trucks or trailers because they didn't feel safe towing. You have towing experience so I'll recommend hitching up and giving it a try before you buy and get the feel for yourself. Some RV dealers are ok with it some are not but if it's a private seller I'd say mandatory. You could head over to the Ford truck forums and ask the same question, you will most likely get more response from those with the same exact truck. I think the web site is Ford-trucks.com
