It's not different, you are old. Sorry, the truth hurts. - D_E_BishopExplorerOkay Guys, enough of this frivolity, I have a pinched nerve in my back and reading this hurts every time I laugh.

Witnessed a young woman at the top of Laurel Falls in the Smokies, several years ago, who had hiked to the top of this site in flip flops with her cell phone. In spite of all of the beauty (and danger) of this site, she was walking around texting, oblivious to it all. She walked over some wet, slippery rock and her feet went out from under her, and the phone went up in the air and over the ledge. She hit her head pretty bad, and with no rangers present, had to be helped all the way back down several miles to the road to get help. I couldn't help but sympathize and feel frustration at this young woman's ignorance at the same time.
And she was probably more worried about her phone than her possible injuries.(Will daddy buy me another new phone?) - littlemoExplorer

So you never rode your bike 'hands free' as a kid ?
I use to do it all the time.
Even would pedal bike while sitting on handle bars backwards.
It was hard to ride "hands free" on gravel. LOL - bmet2000Explorer

The trouble today is that they grew up texting and then learned to drive. So driving is an activity added to their texting. Us older folks grew up driving and then we added cell phones so driving is our primary activity and we're less likely to feel comfortable using a cell phone while driving. Makes sense?
I had a teacher in public school said the same thing about drinking and driving. Kids learned to drive at 16 and then could buy beer at 18. So at 18 they didn't know how alcohol would affect them. His suggestion was to lower the drinking age to 14 so the kids could handle their alcohol before they learned to drive.
I don't think he's a teacher anymore... - PadlinExplorer

Ya, used to do it all the time too.
A few years back started getting into riding a bike again and recalled how easy "no hands" was, crashed after about 20 feet. When the stars cleared I was sure glad no one was around to see it. Old people and no hands, don't mix. - PGR_SkyeExplorerYes, I rode hands free sometimes, but my eyes were on the road, too. Riding backwards on the handlebars while peddling? I wasn't that dense!
