Strange energy field around a RV?

Does the "first parked" RV at a 500 acre overnight spot emit an energy field that immediately attracts more vehicles to snuggle up near it, instead of park over there 1/2 mile away?

Well, they do seem to have discovered that gravity waves actually exist, so perhaps part of the material built into RV's creates more gravity waves than normal material.

A tuba on the picnic table works well as a camper repellent.

CG owners have the same energy field disease.

They sign you in and start parking you one by one next to each other. While there are 40 more empty sites on the outskirts of the CG.

I always ask to be parked out in the lower forty of the CG 'away' from other campers. I am full time and when I get off the road for the night when traveling all I want to do is relax for the night. I'm not there for a social gathering!

You'd be surprised the 'deer in the headlights' look I get from the CG owners. It's almost as if they don't know how or what to do. They are so conditioned to parking everyone sardine style row after row as you come in. Which it IS your choice if you don't want to be the next number in line. :R

Parking the Harleys out where others can see them helps a little but there aren't a lot of choices anymore around here if you just show up anyway.

Places we like to camp at in several different campgrounds for canoing and kayaking we use to be able to just go and pick out a nice campsite on the water when we got there. Then they started to take reservations which was OK as there were usually some of the shoreline sites available. Now unless you book your spot first thing in the spring forget it. You might find one or two that have not been reserved for a day here and there but nothing available near the water for two days or more, even in the middle of the week.

It happens in RV parks as well. When cross country traveling we sometimes pull into a park to overnight that is practically empty. If there is one other rig there, we will be assigned the site next to it. If we are the first and one more rig comes in for the night we will both end up side by side! Why can't they at least assign every other site until they are full and have to fill in the blanks?

Just park your car way out yonder at WalMart. When you come back to the car, you'll need a can opener to get in it.

I've always thought they were "apartment dwellers" or "condo dwellers"......and they have NO idea they're getting into our private space! Good to hear all the explanations......ROL

There is an even simpler answer.. I was just watching the last episode of COSMOS and they were talking about Gravity.. Seems massive bodies exert an attraction for each other (Gravity) and since your RV is massive (Compared to say a backpacker's tent) it naturally attracts other massive RVs.

See. that simple.

As much as you may wish to be left alone, All by yoruself, Isolated, Man, by his nature, is a pack animal (Gregarious) and wishes to congregate with others of his kind.

The first, is a joke also a fact, the second, a fact, nothing more.

I think there's more to it than that. An astonishing number of folks are barely brave enough to venture out into the wilds, but not brave enough to enjoy it.

We once owned a house on a quiet cul de sac at the edge of town. Lots were acre-and-a-half, and although there was a house directly across the street, there were empty lots on either side and several hundred acres of woods behind. One couple who came to look at it had told their realtor they wanted seclusion, but the wife expressed her horror over the isolation and that she could never live so far from civilization.

So the answer to your question is "yes," but it's worse than you know. The only way I know to counteract that energy field is to present your rig as the most terrifying spot on the 500 acre field. Fly a giant skull & crossbones pirate flag, or a confederate flag, scatter empty beer cans liberally around, fire a shotgun wildly in the air when you see 'em comin', and chase your SO, around the RV several laps, both of you nearly naked and screaming at the top of your lungs. And if you can have 3 or 4 pitbulls barking loudly in the scrum, that will help, too.

Why is it that those "campers" show up last and not first?

My father-in-law would park right next to you and after set up would come over and say hi. And if he didn't see you or anyone else in the campground when he first got there, he would probably not stay.

Take a look at just about any online reservation site for State and National parks - people always seem to be grouped in the booking maps. When we book ahead we always try to find a spot that's away from the rest of the bookings, but we go to 'get away' so perhaps that's just not what people do outdoors anymore
