Yep, some of these people could in fact be dead right! They want to trust their life and family members to a sensor on a 50 or 60 dollar heater!

A cat heater must be treated with more care than a standard furnace. They are not fool proof and has been shown on this thread there are heaters being operated inappropriately.

So, you have intimate and total knowledge of running an unvented combustion heater correctly. You take the time to measure the opening of the vent, and open it the approved amount. Then you go to sleep. But while you are asleep the wind comes up....and the vent closes (mine do this in wind).

Many folks don't bother with directions.

If my life is possibly at stake--I'd pick the safest possible heater. That, for catalytic, is the vented platinum cat.

I wish naturist had posted a link to the newspaper article which documents the death of some one camping and using a heater.

If my opinion is wrong--the end user has spent a couple of hundred dollars more for a heater of superior design with a thermostat that maintains an even temperature and does not cause moisture build up inside an RV.

If your opinion is wrong--the end user may die.

It follows that you also disagree with those regulatory authorities in the U.S./Canada/elsewhere that have approved as safe the indoor use of properly equipped propane heaters.

The O.P. must decide whose opinion bears the most weight and decide accordingly.

I hate to disagree with you--but as oxygen content goes down catalytic heaters do start to produce carbon monoxide.

Sleepy put in a Platinum Cat in his TC. There is a great thread on it.

As my daughter is a carbon monoxide survivor (thank goodness, no permanent harm) the only heater I'd consider is the Platinum Cat
