Sunrunners - opposite of Snowbirds?

I know there is a group for people who RV in the South to avoid the harsh winters up North, but what about those of us who want to escape the hot an humid summers in the South / Southeast / Southwest? Are we Sunrunners? I would like to know how many of us there are and what tips we could share to enhance our "summer escapes". Do you have a regular destination, like Snowbirds in RGV or Florida? What are your target months to be up North? Or maybe you don't go up North, and you go to higher elevations in Colorado? Maybe there's already a group and I am just unaware??

    UP is nice, try Bay Furnace CG right on the lake, North shore is also nice along Superior. Superior will cool you down. Never had to use AC there. If you head to Maine stop in the White Mtns in New Hampshire on the way warn during the day and cool at night. In Maine I like Seawall CG in Arcadia which is close to the ocean and that water is cold all summer also. In the last 16 years I can count on one hand the times I needed to use the AC. Camp high or near the ocean or big lakes like Superior.

    Go north, that's where snowbirds go back to, to avoid the heat in the south.

    Deb/Ed beat me to it. The Great Lakes are the key to the UP in the summer, specifically Superior which is a deep cold lake.

    Generally, if you are on the downwind side of a Great Lake, it will be cooler; and although the humidity will be less than the Gulf area, it will still be humid. If you want cool-and-dry, you need to gain altitude west of the Mississippi.

    My bro/sis-in-law "the Sunbirds" come to west Michigan from their Florida home, in late September and October. It's their break from the heat/humidity, and gives them the fall colors they miss.

    Ed and I are Snowbirds - we'll be spending the winter in FL. Ed says we live a life of "Endless Summer"

    You could try to coast - specifically the west coast to stay cool in the summer... Farther north, better chance of comfortable day temps and respectable night temps, even in the hottest August days...
