Taking Personal Responsibility to new lows.

Recent review of Lazy Days RV Park in Florida has the park getting a 1 out of 10. Reason, the reviewer broke their ankle.
Did they break their ankle because the park had carelessly left equipment laying around? No. Was the park at fault because a walkway, stairs or piece of recreational equipment failed? No. Was the floors in the office, store, laundry or bathhouses wet and slick from a spill? Nyet.
The failure of the park...Leaves on a hill BEHIND the reviewer's RV. The reviewer gave no reason why they felt they had to be climbing on the hill, but they apparently felt it was the park's fault that either the hill was there or that their trees drop leaves. And people wonder why there has to be signs everywhere warning people if you do something stupid you might get hurt.

I'd like to know why the rv park owner didn't install an escalator on the hillside in question. May I suggest that campground owners put in safe spaces where victims can go for awhile until they feel better.
Maybe we'd all be happier.:B

Wow Ralph Cramden, that's quite a story! I've very generous in helping fellow campers with stuff they might need also, and shared items or let them borrower while there. But never had anyone take off with those items.

Hopefully, that couple learned something.... probably not though!

Not *just* in campgrounds, but lots of them seem to travel in RVโ€™s....

I rarely stay in a c/g because Iโ€™m travelling to small airports and just camp there. On one such trip 3 or 4 of us were parked in a lot fairly close to a main road one nice summer night. Not long before sunset a m/h stopped next to us on the road and the driver stood at the fence and asked if they could join us. โ€œSure! Come on in!โ€

The next morning (around 9am) we were sitting around having coffee when the โ€˜ladyโ€ appeared before even โ€˜good morningโ€™ started with something more like โ€œGeezuz, whatโ€™s with all these idiots screaming right over our heads in those **** airplanes!!!โ€

We pointed out that, well, errrrr, ummm, youโ€™re at an AIRPORT. Itโ€™s kinda what happens here. Without even hesitating she replied โ€œWell couldnโ€™t they see these great big motorhomes? Wouldnโ€™t they KNOW weโ€™d all be TRYING to SLEEP? Duh!!!โ€

When the shock wore off, and the giggling subsided somebody suggested she should demand a full refund!

Snowflakes are idiots. Just had a run in with a couple of flakes over the recent holiday. They could not run their A.C. on their shiny new POS because the state park has old wiring, and when occupancy is higher than normal usually presents problems.

First when they arrived he backed the shiny new class C POS over the steel fire ring backing into the site. It has just rained the night before so he was now stuck in the mud (grass sites with no pad), without ever getting out of the drivers seat and checking out the conditions prior to backing in off the paved road. Off went the wife to complain about the conditions to the girl at the contact station. An hour later here comes maintenance with a tractor and yanks out the C. The guy backs in 10' to the right and is stuck again, but I assume that's good enough....and apparently level enough too.

Ahhh poop....hes now too far from the shared power pedestal for his cord to reach, so off to the contact station again to inquire if they loan or rent extension cords LOL. When it's discovered they do not, she then goes site to site until she finds someone to borrow a cord from....never asked me....I could of saved her some hiking.

After an hour or two she comes over and states they are having problems with their electricity, and every time they turn on the A.C. it blows the fuse. I explain the power situation, tell her the park has derated these sites in the loop to 20 amp in all literature and at the reservation site, and show her my Hughes autoformer and explain to her and her husband how it works. I also grabbed my meter and showed them how my side of the pedestal was at 109 volts ahead of the autoformer, theirs was floating around 97. Off she goes to the contact station to complain again, and 45 minutes later the ranger and the maintenance manager arrive.

The maintenance guy apparently explains what I just had explained. But wait.....its now, according to the husband, my fault due to the autoformer use. It's caused by me using something he did not even know existed an hour prior, or understood how it worked. This despite the maintenance guy explaining each receptacle in the shared pedestal was pulled from opposite legs of the 240 volt circuit, and regardless the autoformer would not be the problem anyway. I guess he also explained how if they turn the water heater and fridge to gas and turn off the Tv's, the outside one was on almost before they got out of the C, the A.C. runs fine despite the power situation.

Later on their snowflake friends show up and all is good I assume. That is until about midnight when I see the ranger show up at their site and turn on the spotlight. Ooops no alcoholic beverages allowed in PA state parks, so don't move your picnic table to 10' from the road and then sit a dozen empty beer bottles on it out in plain view. I was entertained while sucking on my Coors Light in a coozy while watching them put all their beverages into a garbage bag provided by the ranger, which he threw in his truck and hauled off to the dumpsters.

I guess that was enough of this RVing. Early the next morning maintenance was there at 9 AM with the tractor, to yank the C out of the mud lol, and off they went, despite the site being held till Monday.

I am sure a negative review will be posted soon somewhere buy these morons. And the guy who lent them the 30 amp extension? He came to me later that day and asked what happened to the people next door? They took off with his cord lol.
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Plenty of reviews out there complaining out the campground mosquitoes, wild racoons, too many trees, weather ruining their weekend, no 24/7 office open to make change for the snack machine, too far out in the sticks, and on.

Love it. here is another story from my Police Dispatch days.

Woman is busy flunking the breath-a-lizer She has as steering wheel shaped injury to her forehead.

FIrst she tries to blame the Trooper (No not his fault) and when we point out she hit the wheel when she hit the car she ran into.

"Well it's all his fault, he stopped suddenly in the lane in front of me"

ER. like 3 hours in front of her and ON THE SHOULDER (Tagged abandoned vehicle that had broken down)

OH well I suspect she learned
She had to replace her car
The car she hit
Pay the fines costs and such
Tow trucks
Alcohol awareness school
(OUI costs around 10 grand WITHOUT replacing the cars)

We were driving down a country road a few days ago when suddenly a deer darted in front of us. DW slammed on the brakes and we missed the deer by a thread. After a few minutes I began to wander why the county hadn't put up signs all along the road warning deer to look both ways.
We were almost over the hill.

No, sorry 2012Coleman.... that will never happen. Remember about a year ago, that thread, about the forum member who picked up a milk crate and wanted to use it for a step for his camper? Wow! Now that was a lively forum thread! Anyway, we should all be glad he picked it up and didn't leave it. We are ALL safe now you know. He took the crate before the person who gave the negative review had a chance to trip over it! The world is now a safer place and one lawyer has one less client. :B

Sorry, didn't realize you had been appointed Czar of the Forum. It is by far the most commented on thread over the last 24 hours, so it is of interest to people. Oh well, I am sure someone will start a "what make of tires is best" thread shortly.
