How about we wait until the hurricane is done before sending relief. Nothing worse than sending unneeded stuff to an area already in need.

I don't know if anything is arriving other than FEMA furnished right now or not but the need is immediate, however no one needs to go into a malestrom, unprepared. I imagine most are waiting.
It would be most helpful if FEMA officials responsible for different zones, would put out the call for what is needed when. Of course coordinating the big effort, from one official or groups of officials, will be unwieldy at the least.
I'm not involved so I can't say.

I saw messages going out for clothing (plus sizes especially), diapers, blankets, cots, and other items. I would assume that someone is operating a clearing house for what is needed but I haven't found it.

Yeah, that Cajun Navy is doing some heavy lifting. It's amazing to see how just ordinary folks can make such a big difference in saving lives. Good on 'em!

I took up a collection at our Monday night bowling and got almost $100 including mine and a couple family members, took it to camping world today, so $200 in total. We want to go help, we will see in the next few weeks what can be done. Usually enough help is wiht in the first few weeks, so those folk will be tired and ready for some new help. Our expertise is construction and such so i think our help will be needed in a month or so. God bless all of those folk. Good Luck & Be Safe.

This morning I heard 14 dead, I also heard that at least one political leader had advised AGAINST evaucation. (I'll say no more on that).

Unless you have training I'd stick with donation.. I have limited training. but alas. no longer have physical ability to do a lot.. But I can to some.. Be advised that if you absolutely need to get a message in/out Amateur Radio may be able to do it for you, But if you are NOT in the disaster area... Please consider how important the message is.. IF YOU ARE in the disaster area.. a "I'm alive' may go out as soon as they can send it.. (We do prioritize), .

Financial donations to a reputable company are probably the best thing right now. The Red Cross is doing an amazing job of distributing items of need down there, but they are running low on certain supplies. I heard on the radio this morning that things such as baby formula and diapers are needed. I'm sure by this evening they have been overwhelmed with formula and diapers, but tomorrow a new need will inevitably arise.

God bless the people who are helping, from professionals like police/fire/national guard to the everyday citizens that are donating time, resources, equipment, etc. I am always so amazed at the outpouring of selflessness and true caring that we are able to produce in times like these. If only we could put away partisanship, cultural differences and religious differences and work together as Americans, how much better would this country be.

Its terrible that tragedies like this need to occur before we come together as a UNITED States of America, but I am grateful for the opportunity to show my children that true selflessness and caring does exist in this world. I hope everyone stays safe that is helping and living down there.

Heard Mercury One was today saying they were taking water, disposable diapers, baby wipes, new packs of socks and underwear, neosporin, basic first aid items through his charity. They were working out of Livingston Tx. and yes they are set up with Paypal and facebook for information.
Also a local group from here in Va. Gods Pit Crew is sending Trucks full of supplies and volunteers to work the relief efforts, they will aslo use their trucks once they are down there to shuttle supplies in from other groups.

I saw on another site that CW was collecting clothing at one place.
