And everyone who buys at a dealer that will only service what they sell and touts that as a benefit should insist when buying from that dealer that the dealer provide a performance bond from an insurer that guarantees that the dealer will still be in business for X years later when the buyer needs some service and guarantees that service that the dealer provides will be preferential to that provided to non buying customers in perpetuity.

And when they tell you that they can't get such a performance bond, simply ask the dealer to provide you with their latest profit and loss statement and balance sheet so you can evaluate for yourself the 'extra value' they promise by implying that service will be exceptional because they only service what they sell. What a load of c**p

In other words they have a business model / plan that while you may not agree with it works for them.
If they can make a profit servicing only units they sell and they are happy and content. What is there to complain about?

Getting hard to find good service these days. Just fired a General Contractor who was going to run reconstruction project on my house - he asked why and I had to tell him that cancelling meetings at the last second and consistently showing up significantly late to every meeting was unacceptable. Paying people to treat you like dirt is stupid.

K3WE, if their service was prompt, thorough and the practise ensured that their rig purchasing customers always got great service, that would be a great marketing tool for a local market.
Do they have that kind of a stellar local reputation?
If not, then you didn't miss anything.

Unfortunately, it's going to get a lot worse in the future with the dumbing down the schools and educational system across all of the U.S. Hiring competent management and skilled laborers is going to cost a very high premium and wait time.

I ran into this once with a water heater repair on the TT. The website said they were a certified repair shop so I called and got the same response. They were almost rude to a point. Called whoever manufactured the water heater explained what happened. Few hours later water heater people called back and said they are no longer a certified repair facility. Went to another dealer and they took care of it no problem.
Don't understand the reasoning behind it because when looking for a new trailer I didn't even bother stopping at that dealer.

The BEST service is the service you do, yourself. Working on an RV ain't rocket science by a long shot.

Not necessarily, some people simply aren't cut out, or trained, to do some of the stuff on these trailers. If I could find a good shop that I trusted, and had the discretionary income, I wouldn't do a thing myself.

It's like my car/truck: I'll do some things, but won't work on exhaust systems, air conditioners, and most of the electrical stuff in the cab. I can work on exhaust systems, but choose not to subject myself to the hassle. I don't have the equipment to do A/C stuff, and ditto on in cab electronics.
