The solution to MY sewer smell in the RV
For about a year I have had a sewer smell in my RV when the black tank is 1/2 full or more, or when driving down the road. Over that period I:
1. replaced both AAV's, didn't work.
2. got on the roof and checked to see if a vent pipe had fallen into the tank, it was fine.
3. got on the roof and flushed a lot of water down both vent pipes in case something had plugged the bottom of the vent, didn't work.
4. replaced both AAV's again thinking a plugged vent may have ruined the new AAV, didn't work.
5. and, finally, this winter, I took up the toilet and replaced the seal between it and the floor.
We just got back from our first camping trip (4 nights) after replacing the seal, and had NO sewer smell. It must have been a bad seal all along.
