The ultimate boondocking battery bank. 24KW

Link below.

Using your electric vehicle as a battery bank while dry camping. You would have to trailer it though as I don't think they make a 4 down towable electric vehicle. Our EV is only 17.3 KW but that would work for a week or two. :) I wonder if any of the high end manufacturers have thought about adding the hardware as an option. Kinda cool. Probably easier just to put in the big battery. A 17 kw battery runs about 5000 plus of course you would need the special inverters etc. The futures looking fun. :) If you had a Tesla you could go a month. :)

  • I've heard of people using a Prius in a similar way. Great thing is, if the big Prius battery starts to run low, the gas engine automatically kicks in to charge the big battery.

Apparently you can run the AC as desired and use the Prius as an air conditioned tent, if you can sleep through the intermittent starting of the engine. Don't know if I could or not. There were some posts on the cheaprvliving web site by a woman who did a cross-country trip living in her Prius, for about 3 months. Too cramped for me, but it was definitely cheap1
