That's why companies like Mequiars uses a water based tire dressing now with UV protection. If it doesn't come off with water, I would use it.
With all due respect, what do you actually GAIN from using this stuff... besides a temporarily prettier tire? If I am not mistaken, that was the original question... how would the OP's tires BENEFIT from using this?
I don't doubt that they make a product that doesn't prematurely degrade the rubber anymore, but does it actually increase the lifespan of a tire?
You gain UV protection, that is the point of proper tire dressings like 303. UV will destroy a tire try quickly. that's why tires turn that brownish color. Dry rot is also quicken with UV damage. A water based tire dressing with UV protection is what you're looking for.
It would be nice if drive around with tire covers on for UV protection, but we can't. So a UV tire dressing is the next best thing.
In the end you gain a lot. The nicer shine is just a benefit. It's like saying what is gained by waxing your paint other then a shine? Think of a UV tire dressing as wax protection for your tires.
