Toad Package Shake-Down Cruise

I had business in Port Angeles last night, so we decided to make it the shakedown toad cruise for my Fit, with the Roadmaster Stowmaster, Roadmaster Tow Defender, Blue Ox Patriot braking system, a wiring kit form E-Trailer, and assorted chains, bits, and pieces.

All researched and installed by DH, but I can put hook it up and disconnect it. Getting the robot foot onto the brake pedal is a PITA requiring groveling around on my knees - surely there should be an easier way of doing that part - but otherwise it is pretty straightforward and trouble-free and a nice, sanitary installation. With the whole thing off, you can't see any sign of it on the front of the Fit unless you know what you're looking for.

The final step was a detailed instruction sheet for the periodic pampering of the Fit transmission if we run long days, though we don't intend to do so most of the time.

DH decided it was still necessary to block off the radiator and fog light, so he did that with foamboard and blue tape but will come up with a permanent solution before we go to Yellowstone in August.

In Port Angeles we stayed at Al's RV Park, a little old park that is somewhat down in the mouth but pleasant and friendly, and just fine for a one-night stay, particularly if you are self-contained, as we are.
  • The only thing I remember about Port Angeles was the Saw mills and huge logs all around there.

I hadn't been there for quite some time, and on that trip it was Pac NW dreary weather. This trip, it was sunny, so maybe that was part of it. But it seemed to me that the community had worked hard to upgrade the town. Everything with bright, shiny, and spiffy, with lots of nice shops and restaurants. Made me want to go back with a girlfriend to linger in the shops. (DH is a PITA when it comes to lingering in shops.)

Is the braking system like a Brake Buddy? I had to make a wooden jig to go against my Olds seat. It is a PITA to set up, at least mine was.
A picture of your hook up would be nice.

I haven't personally seen a Brake Buddy, but I take it the Brake Buddy has the same sort of configuration. It has a nice pad to rest against the seat. With the Fit, you just pull the seat back, position the unit, and then push the seat forward until it's snug. The only PITA part is getting the clamp onto the pedal, but I'm sure that is a skill acquired with repetition.

Being a man of action, DH had the whole thing disassembled before the MH engine cooled off, and we have no pictures. I'll try to do that the next time we use it, which may not be until the Yellowstone trip in August.

What is a PIT (I guess your Toad). Is the braking system like a Brake Buddy? I had to make a wooden jig to go against my Olds seat. It is a PITA to set up, at least mine was.
