You can toast a slice of bread right on the burner, no tool needed. Flame very low.

toast is simple.

get a pan super hot. place bread in and watch. flip.

toast :)

or like old times. hot rocks. heat up kinda flat rocks near your fire--(put down some alum. foil if you want more clean)--put on bread near fire and wait.

honestly if you just type 'toast without toaster' a few great methods come up.

Who really needs all these gadgets we got to worry about sucking up our amps!!

I have something similar to what ChopperBill posted but, mine folds up I love it but, I don't have the time to find it on the internet for you right now. One problem is that it does set off the smoke detector.

I have 450 watts of solar and a 2000 inverter.
I don't want to use a generator. I don't have a huge rig.. don't need one. My needs are simple.... TV for two hours to watch a movie, toast in the morning, furnace on in the am to warm up and before I go to bed, charge my cell phone, run my fridge... I dry camp all the time

If my flopper toaster doesn't work which it should and only 400 watts, then I'll try that stove one... lol I DO actually have a Creme Caramel or Brule torch .....

Everything runs off the batteries here. The solar panel energy is just for recharging the batteries unless you have many many solar panels in place.

a Typical 120WATT Solar Panel will only give you around 5-6 AMPS of usable DC Current when in the HIGH SUN and this will only be available for 5-6 hours when in the high sun. This won't run much on it its on but if just used for charging the batteries then have the full performance of the battery to use until it gets down to its 50% charge state. Build up your battery bank to run what you want to run using high wattage INVERTER and direct connected to the 12VDC terminals and then just use solar panels to help keep the batteries charged up. You will want to have a 2KW generator first to cover the days that SUN is not usable.

My game plan is going to be the run my 2KW Generator for the first hour of battery charge to get past the initial high current demand from the batteries and then use the solar panels during the 5-6 hours of the HIGH SUN to get my batteries back up to at least their 90% charge state or FLOAT MODE would be even better so that I can do the run off the batteries for the day/night run all over again.

Knowing that it takes a smart mode charger setup three hours to re-charge my battery bank sort of changes my charging priorities. Using the generator during the times the camp grounds allows you to use them is number one priority and then you can just let the solar panels take over the rest of the remaining day to finalize the charging before the sun goes down.

Using this method we would do just about anything we would do at a regular electric site except no air conditioners. We have also changed out our high current incandescent automotive bulbs for LED BOARDS which helps big time...

Adding solar panels for us would just keep our generator run time down alot.

I think you mean 400 watts not 400 amps. (Note:Admin corrected the post)

Two AGM 12 volt batteries wired in a balanced manner and a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter will successfully run almost all items in an RV--one at a time. Add some solar for recharging and you can have "free" solar toast.

Four batteries and 2000 watts sine wave inverter and run any home toaster, waffle maker, coffee pot, blender, mixer, microwave you like, one at a time. Couple solar panels and you will never notice.
