Travel souveniers

Have been traveling with the family now for a few years. Usually I purchase a T-shirt or more during our travels. However have concluded that they dont last as a memory of a trip due to wear and tear. My DW collects shot glasses, one of my sons collects snow globes, and my mother collected spoons. Purchased a TT lapel/hat pin recently and have decided I will attach them to my hat as a record of our travels. Already have a GSC life member pin on it, now the fun part of getting on line and finding ones from the states we have already been. Just curious to learn what others collect on their travels.

We buy little plates, keychain ornaments or waterproof refridgerator magnets, then mount them close together on an outside wall by our patio.
It makes a unique wall!

DW collects refrigerator magnets; memories & photos for me. And on the map color in new states as we visit them.
DW started out collecting souvenir plates but we ran out of wall space in a few years. The magnets held the kids', and now Gkids', artwork in place.

for years my wife has collected hat pins at various points of interest, particularly National Parks and Historic Sites.

Unfortunately her hat is now so heavy that she cannot lift her head enough to see the new wonders we visit.

I remember years ago people use to put bumper stickers all over the back of the trailer of where they had been. Even as a young kid I thought it looked tacky. I guess to them it was kind of like a merit badge. Some sure traveled to a lot of places.

I have collected a few patches from some favorite campgrounds, hot-glued a piece of twine on them, and tied them to garland with a few outdoorsy decorations for Christmas. The lights are already in the garland and it is stored during the rest of the year.
Still having fun!

Can't believe I'm the first to list postcards.

You aren't the first to list postcards. I did some time ago.

The kids get a sticker from the state an NF parks and put it on our 5day cooler. Kinda like the old steamer trunks

We have the kids pick out a refrigerator magnet for each place we visit. A friend of ours suggested the 'hobby' when we got our first PUP. We have been doing it ever since. Lots of good memories to look back on.

Another vote for refrigerator magnets and kids collect the pressed pennies.
Hiking trail patches and hiking stick medallions when appropriate.

Started with mugs because my mother did that and found out they're heavy, fragile, and hard to display. Still pick on up for special sites.

And of course, lots of photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Mother collected rocks on their trips, my Dad always complained about what she wanted to haul home. They all ended up in boxes in their basement. Probably should ask her sometime when we are visiting if she wants me to bring them upstairs so she can reminisce. ๐Ÿ™‚ Probably a bushel or two of memories.

I collect patches from National & State Parks. I have amassed a considerable collection of them and display them on the wall in a frame. I've filled up one frame and am starting another.
I like the idea of fridge magnets except the front of my fridge is aluminum. They won't stick.

Yes rocks! We can weigh considerably more coming home because of all the rocks. It is a wonder that she can remember where all the rocks in her rock garden came from but she does. I can remember the petrified wood from AZ and the granite from NH. That is about it. She can tell you what rocks came from Seattle, Moab, and every other place we had to stop on the side of the road so she could go collecting.
