Has anyone found a trip planner that you can set for a specific number of miles or hours you want to drive in a day?
Find it very hard to figure out where my next stop will be

Why do you need that? Figure out your route, and start looking about 6 hours worth of driving to find places to park. Do you average 40 or 60MPH? Base it on miles if you want. There are lots of apps that will help you locate decent camp grounds, just need a local.
