Underslung coupler

One thought comes to mind. If the one you have doesn't work, get a different kind of WDH.

Trunion style Reese HP with no sway control with the bottom mounted coupler on our 2017 Jayco 28RLS and F250 RWD. Head tilted all the way forward. Bars cammed for easy addition of DC if I ever feel it's needed.

My round bars have holes in the end so I could just run them without the cams and see how it goes.

My Jayco 28U has one. I use an Equal-i-Zer hitch.

It works very well.

I have no sway problems at all. Transports passing do not cause an isse.

Doesn't feel solid seems to sway for no reason. The noice is crazy too! I've never heard another hitch set up bang as loud as this one. I can feel in through the truck.

3rd truck with this trailer/hitch combo. It's time for a change.

Removed the Dual Cam portion and took a 40 mile ride with only the weight distribution. Other than feeling the breezy conditions there was NO sway or any other issues. .

Going to run this set up for now. We have a trip to Acadia NP on Columbus Day weekend so that will be a good test as it is a 5 hour one way ride.

Glad you saw some improvement. One thing I wish Reese would offer is a short shank. Splitting hairs but, the shorter the better for reducing leverage with side winds.

Round bar WD hitches are generally more appropriate with top mounted couplers. You could gain a bunch of clearance by going to a trunnion bar setup there. Bet you're getting close to hitting in certain situations, if you haven't dragged already.

I had mine removed and replaced it with a top mount. Welding shop did the work. I don't remember the exact cost but it wasn't much. Maybe $50
