Used tow base plates

I have been watching craigslist and ebay for a few months for an 01 Saturn SL1 base plate without any luck. Do they end up in the junk yard along with the car or is there a place that sells used tow parts?

It looks like hitchtrader may be out of business. I cant get it to come up.

Sorry, I haven't been on there for a while. Used to have a lot of listings.

No problem. I'm beginning to think it might be easier to find a used baseplate, then find the car that fits it. :R

  • I got lucky that I bought an Sl1 Saturn for $800 all setup for the towbar, with the blueOx towbar… so I couldn't let it go as I had a SW2 and the transmission case got smashed when the Diff exploded..

  • I would call local junk yards and ask. When I wanted to get a hitch for my grand Cherokee, the factory one with everything needed for the attaching and bezel for the bumper cutout, etc.. Would have cost over 900.00 new, got everything from the junkyard (mopar oem parts, even the factory wiring harness, plug and play) for just over 200.00 I didn't even have to remove them! Just went an picked them up. Washed them, threw some paint on them and put them on. Hardest part was cutting the bumper and putting on the bezel
  • Pretty sure OP is talking about using the Saturn as a towed.

I'd been watching for used baseplates with no luck as well. I bought one new and now realize why they aren't on the used market. I've got to spend several hours removing the bumper and installing. I surly wouldn't do it again when I sell the car. For what? A hundred bucks?
  • What are you going to tow behind a Saturn? Or did you mean to put this in the Dingy Towing section instead of the Tow Vehicle section?
