Washing clothes at a campground.

3d rig with washer and dryer. Wife won't be without. The RV is it's own (clothes, dishes, etc.)

since buying Sunnybrook Titan TT back in '02, having a separate washer and dryer has become a must have for us in any camper we would purchase .... for folks who like to spend time in a Laundromat go for it, that's just not for me .... as noted, when using smaller capacity units you have to keep up with the laundry, if you wait to do it all in one day, that's all you will get done .... as with many items, there is no way one can recoup the cost of the machines in savings of not feeding the coin operated machines .... to us, cost savings do not enter the picture .... we don't have a Bigfoot auto leveling system to save money on leveling blocks .... for us, there are just some things that we are willing pay for in the name of convenience

.When we first bought our house, we left our washer and dryer for the buyers of our old one. We bought a combo washer/dryer called a "Eurotech". This was back in 1999. The current Splendide is a dead ringer for that POS Eurotech.

One of its big sales pitch advantages was the "high speed spin", at 1200 rpm. It shook so bad from starting with all the wet clothes at the 6 o'clock position in the drum that it shook pictures off the wall in the adjacent bedroom and popped out wallboard nails in the laundry room. We gave up on it and traded it back to the dealer for a conventional top loader and matching dryer. If the Splendide is anything like that Eurotech, I wouldn't touch it with a barge-pole.

We haven't bothered with a washing machine in the RV. We do laundry in the CG facilities about every third day, staying an extra night if necessary.

We actually wash in our Splendide, so we can stuff a larger load in it and not worry about drying. Then we bring the wet clothes to the CG dryers and can dry the entire load for $1.

I have found that most campgrounds are much cheaper that a laundromat. I don't mind using machines in either. So far all have been very clean facilities and machines. I don't go to large cities though. If one looked junky and dirty, I would simply wait until we moved to the next place. Only takes about 2 hrs and then I'm done for at least 10-14 days.

Usually, I end up at a local laundromat, as I normally have 6-8 large loads of laundry and its cheaper usually at the bigger in town laundromat than at the RV park, but not always, sometimes I come across a RV park with some good old top load washers and nice dryers for a good price.

If you don't go to the c.g. laundry, how do you hear all the latest gossip. It is also a good place to talk to others about local places of interest and restaurants etc. Meeting others and chatting makes the time go faster but if at all possible, I head back to the M.H. and return to the laundry at the appropriate time.

The Splendide works fine if you keep ahead of the clothes. Doesn
t do many at a time. Really don't want to spend half a day at the laundry or leave them in the machine untended. Some of the campgrounds can cost ten to twenty dollars to wash and dry all the clothes.
If we can get around to it separate washer and dryer is the ticket. Lose the storage for towels etc though.

A light rain on the camper roof is pretty nice too.

..The wife loves our Splendide washer/dryer combo. Never an issue, does all our clothes and we've never been to a campground anywhere that stated as part of their rules that you couldn't use your own washer/dryer combo..can't be dumping anything worse than sewage into their drain already; maybe the cost of electricity to the campground?

My wife would much rather wash clothes in the camper than go to laundry mat at a campground or go looking for one in case campground doesn't offer that service.

When mounted solidly, the washer dryer combo is just barely noticeable to us, (spin cycle and then it's no big deal).

Having worked years and years of night shift, I'd run a fan to kill outside noises thru the day when I was trying to sleep...been doing it for so long that the wife and I purchased a "sound machine" and have on at home and one in the 5er...turn it on before we go to bed at night and it works for us, and quite inexpensive.
