Weight Distributing Hitch for 2010 Ford Expedition EL

We have a 2017 Aerolite 242BHSL travel trailer and want to tow with our 2010 Ford Expedition EL. Does anyone know what brand and type of Weight Distributing Hitch we should use?

Hitch Weight on trailer is 720 lbs
Dry Weight of trailer is 5510 lbs
Cargo weight is 1090 lbs.

Our Expedition has 600 lb hitch weight and can only tow 6000 lbs. Was told by Ford we needed the weight distribution receiver hitch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

You need a WDH for sure. You also should upgrade the transmission cooler if you do not have the HD towing package.

I just went from a Reese HP wdh with no sway control to an Equalizer 4 Pt 10k hitch. Works great! For noise, keep the sockets lubed as per Equalizer's instructions. I use marine grease. I went against heaven above and put some grease on the spring bars and L brackets, then wiped off with a rag. Nice and quiet while still offering good sway control "in my humble opinion". We didn't have a sway problem before but it still prevents waggle from passing trucks.

For your trailer....

Equal-i-zer brand hitch
Reece Dual Cam HP hitch
Blue Ox SwayPro

All good.....probably look for 800-1000 lb. bars. This should cover your loaded, trip ready tongue weight.

Yes, a WDH would be necessary IMO. I'm happy with my Equal-i-zer. Others are good too. Not only "need" it, you will want it to shift weight back to the TT wheels and forward to the TV's front wheels.
