Window Awning Issues....

I just aquired an o7 Discovery with a full slide. Two of the windows on the full slide share a Window Awning. I noticed that the awning was not winding te fabrick eavenly. I ended up pulling the awning.

I found that the small plastic "rope" that's fed inside the hem at the end has shrunk! About 2 inshes on one side and about 3 to 4 inches on the other side!

I'm thinking about just pushing the "rope" to one side & filling in the other end till flush at end. I "believe" I should be able to get this "rope" material from Camping world? I also have to puck up some pop rivets as well.

Any ideas, suggestions?
