Would you upgrade from a 2" to 2.5" shank?

Picking up a blue ox sway pro wd hitch for my open range Roamer. I figure my tongue weight will be in the 1400-1500lb weight. Blue ox will swap out the 2" for a 2.5 hitch shank for free, other than shipping. Is it worth swapping or is the 2" plenty?

They sent me the 2.5" shank the next day. I haven't even paid for the hitch from my dealer yet. This thing is a beast, glad I upgraded. Excellent CS from blue ox as well.

I vote change it also. I towed my TT once with the 2" shank and sleeve adapter and it was very sloppy. That was while my 2.5" shank was being shipped. The new 2.5" works much better, less noise and no slop at all.

I towed our old TT once with the 2" shank and the adapter...too much slop and noise. Bought the 2 1/2" shank and it quieted down quite a bit and almost no slop in the hitch.

I have a 2" shank on my Equalizer WD hitch. The sleeve is starting to warp. You can't really see it but its becoming quite difficult to pull out of the hitch when I need to.

We're selling the Work & Play. But if for some crazy reason we use the camper again for next year, I will be getting a new 2.5" shank.

If the receiver on your vehicle is 2.5, get the 2.5 shank. Why use the insert sleeve and continue to put up with the extra 'slop' between the shank, the insert, and the receiver? I wish my shank was the 2.5, but not enough I'm willing to pay for it yet.

Exactly my thought. I recently bought a new truck that sits higher than my previous TV and needed to get a new shank with more drop. At first I tried a 2" shank with the adapter sleeve and there was massive slop. I could move the hitch head (at the bottom) almost 1-1/2". That was way too much for my comfort. I splurged and spent $150 to get a 2.5" shank and it was a much better fit.

So yes, if your truck has a 2.5" receiver and Blue Ox will UPGRADE you for free, jump on the chance!!!! :B You will not regret the choice.

That is what I plan on doing when I upgrade to the Blue Ox WDH, sometime after Christmas. :E
