Would you want to hear from the new owners of your old rv?

My motorhome is 21 years old. We've owned it for the past 11 of those years. I was going through some old documentation and I found a maintenance receipt with the name and address of the original owner in Arizona. He must have been a Marine because there is a Marine logo on the dash (out of respect, I left it there).

The big question: Would you want a picture or a status update of an RV that you've owned in the past? Or would you be like 'Do Not Contact Me Again you Stalker':S

As for me, I would, as long as it was just a friendly update and not a rant about issues with the rv.

I have personal relationship's with inanimate objects, just kind of weird that way. Some people their rolling stock is just transportation or temporary housing, but to me it's much more.

Last fall we bought our 2003 GMC truck at auction and the previous owner left every receipt including the original bill of sale and window sticker. They also left some medical and legal paperwork in the truck which detailed a brain tumor and being declared legally incompetent. I wrote the surviving spouse how much we were enjoying our new truck, and how lucky we felt to have found a well cared for truck that would serve us for many years to come. I asked nothing in return. Never did hear back though.

We have maintained a relationship with a family that bought our 1998 Arctic Fox travel trailer, though that was a private sale, not through a dealer trade.

I fixed up an older truck camper and the previous owner was so happy to hear from me and see pictures of their old truck camper getting a new life in our care.

My Dad sold his 1973 Travelall in 1984 and I stayed in touch with the owners and in 2007 they gave me the Travelall back in mint condition. Hemmings Motor News saw my pictures on the web (link in my signature) and recently contacted me because they are writing a story about SUV from the early 70's and wanted to feature my truck.

So long as you aren't complaining or asking for anything in return I say it's OK to send a letter, but I wouldn't call personally. Hans

I was on my way into Indian Hills Campground in Tehachapi, Calif. when I saw my 1999 Wildwood fiver parked in a permanent CG, adjacent to where we were going.

I stopped and visited with the new owner, a retired piano teacher, and she said that it was just the right home for her.

She had it set up as a permanent dwelling, with siding under the body, jacks all around, and a piano in the rear seating area! It had a 30" door, which is kind of odd for a fiver, but she was able to get the spinet through it!

It had come with two Lazy-Boy recliners, and she had removed them.

She was enjoying life in the mountains at minimal cost!

I hope she lives to a ripe old(er) age.

I've seen the owner of my 1999 Georgetown on sites, asking questions, and have responded to them, but have kind of been snubbed.! Don't quite understand, as I've tried to help him as well as I can.

Oh, well...........

What a bunch of sourpusses. I sold my 98 Pathfinder three years ago to a private party. It had 465,000 kms. Just the other day I happened to drive down their street and saw it parked in front of their house. Makes me proud I took such good care of it and it is serving them well. After reading this thread, I'm sorry we didn't stop and see how they and the Pathfinder were doing.

They did add some bling to it, but it is still its shiny black and I miss it sooo much. It was the best car I ever owned next to my 72 VW Beetle, and my 78 Rabbit GTI, and now my 2009 VW Pointer GTI. Well, I guess I love all my cars.

I just sold my Toad all set up to tow behind a MH. My friend wanted it real bad but that was a big NO. He was my friend and I wanted it to stay that way. He's still a little ticked off but that will fade. The phone calls if it broke down from him wouldn't have.

I'm with him. Honestly...I would probably never speak to you again after that stunt.

When we sold our AIrstream, the new owners pulled away with "Bell" driving a new Dodge Chargerโ€ฆthe Airstream was a 27' International. We have often wondered if they made it out of FL! I would love to hear from them, then againโ€ฆ...

X-2, when it's gone, I could care less about it, just like cars I've sold.

Just like I would not want to hear from any one I sold my stuff from my house to either. :B

The new owner of my 'B' was the dealership where I traded it in for my current 'C'. And I would not be a happy camper if the dealership gave the next owner my name. I have no idea what happened to it during the dealership's ownership.

The guy who bought my friend's first Coachmen C is still friends with him. (Though he now has a 5er and no longer owns the motorhome.) I've still seen my old F-350 and J-20 around a few times.

The dude with the J-20 asked me about a problem he was having with the snowplow wiring...because I had wired it, I was able to help him.

Sure, even if it is about a problem that I might be able to advise them on. Start ranting & raving like it is my fault & I will hang up.

I buy older TT. When I'm done with them I sell them to friends that then go camping with me sometimes. So, I get to see my old Rv's for quite a few years after I have sold them. A

The folks that bought our popup called to let us know how happy they are and when their first trip would be. It was quite nice hearing that.
