Hard surfaces and puppies question

Thanks, all! I'm well aware of hot surface issues-we get sun most of the day on the driveway this time of year so I do the "palm test". I press my hand on the driveway and if I can't stand it neither can the dogs.

I have not heard that either, I would be more concerned about hot surfaces. We park host and are in area where it can get to 100 degrees and bright sun. We also have an issue with pine tree pitch. We got our beagle a set of boots, these are more for the pitch. It was so hard to get out of the paw pads. She accepted the boots very well.

Have not heard that either. As Mark said, coordination at that age is always an issue and hard surfaces complicate that. I've never seen serious injury due to walking on hard surfaces.

Add me to those who've never heard that before.

Never heard of that either unless it has to do with letting their pads toughen up to handle the heat. Also have heard not to walk them long distances.

I’ve never seen this recommendation before. What I can say from experience is that puppies are not as coordinated as adults and they can have more difficulty in keeping their paws under them on hard smooth surfaces than on softer grippier surfaces.
