- nabiExplorerFingers crossed that the worst is behind her and she is feeling better quickly with the new meds...
- chrisnpatExplorerOne of my Cockers has IBD, which means on going diarrhea and constipation problems.
Thats all I can say about it cause if you haven't experienced a pet with this problem some of you would really freak out if I told you all the details.. :)
Anyways my vet gave us Endoshorb Tabs. for her. along with strict instruction on what to watch for in 24hrs concerning her stool.
This is actually Keopactate before they changed the formula.
So you can give that too, on a temporary basis. - One last update. . .
The fecal returned negative for any parasite. Whoo hoo! My little gal has done so much better since the vet visit. And all systems are GO!
Thanks for all your help and concern!

Okay, thought I would update you all. We got up early at the crack of dark so we could make the run to Victoria from Houston quicker and get our girl to a vet. Called and got a 4:30 appointment but got into Victoria about 10:30 and called back. They said to bring her on in. Thank you, thank you, Victoria Animal Hospital!
Nothing specific, but the sample did yield a parasite egg the vet was unfamiliar with. It was probably rice. Oops! Sending it off.
Two shots. . . one of maropitant for nausea and one high powered antibiotic. Then metronidozole tablets and a probiotic as well. No food today at all. No water for 4-5 hours, then small amounts periodically. Food tomorrow, small amounts of hamburger and rice and start oral meds.
Wants us to investigate Addison's with her because of her slow heart rate and other indicators.
Hopefully the tummy upset will be gone soon. She clearly isn't feeling well but did great at the vets. Never have had a dog that didn't space out at the vet's office. She just takes it all in stride. Love my little girl. . . and her sister.
Thanks again!

Glad you were able to get her seen and on the road to recovery. My little doggy had a bout of bloody diarrhea about a month ago while we were on the road. Longest trip of my life! I thought we'd never get there. He pooped all over the back seat, twice! Thankfully, all he needed was a little Imodium, some metronidazole, something for pain & nausea and a lot of rest. Cost me a bundle at the after hours emergency vet, but whaddaya gonna do? - Okay, thought I would update you all. Dale - nabiExplorerhope its something that meds can clear up quickly....so worrisome when they are ill...
- We are stopping in Victoria for the night, but calling ahead for veterinarians. She had multiple incidences during the night, so she won't get to eat again today. . . but probably doesn't want to anyway. Not keeping anything down or "in." I slept on the couch to be close to her all night and she clearly is not feeling well. When it gets light out, we will be walking and trying to collect a sample to take in. Hopefully she will get some relief today. We will plan to stay there until she can travel more, then see the vet in the valley.

- DashonthedashExplorerI have used immodium, but my vet recommends against it, because it can cause constipation, and it doesn't deal with the cause of the diarrhea. Ask your vet for Metronidazole or Tylan.
