- Thanks everyone. I am keeping a close watch on her. I'm hoping it is something like parasites. . . not that I want her to have those, but that would be better than something more serious.
We are done in Houston and are visiting friends in Victoria tomorrow, then will be back in the valley Wednesday. Will get her set up with a vet.

She is having diarrhea, but she ate nothing yesterday, so I was interested in getting something in her. She normally has pumpkin and yogurt every day, but today wouldn't eat anything else. So I gave her some boiled hamburger and rice today. She ate that. No change but it may be too early to notice.. She strains so hard but only squirts out a bit, but then she didn't eat yesterday. Our other dog did this last week, but it only lasted a few hours.
We are leaving Houston tomorrow, will spend one night on the road, then will be in the Rio Grande Valley for the winter. I will definitely take her to a vet when we get there, but was hoping I could help her now.

Sound like Harlee back in 2009 when we stayed at an RV Park (strained, only to squirt a bit of this nasty back liquidy poop). Took her to the Vet, did a stool test, found some worms or whatever. She gave me this white chalky liquid medicine I place in a big syringe to squirt it in her mouth.
The stuff took care of her problem real quick.
Good luck, hope she starts feeling better.

I have a Scottish Terrier who's having some issues. I want to try Imodium first, but can't remember the dose. Can anyone help? Thanks,Dale
Immodium/loperamide
Just be sure to thoroughly read the Side Effects and Contraindications/Warnings when 'not' to use loperamide if you are not under a vets care. Not all OTC meds meant for people are always safe to use for pets.

I quit using anti diarrhea meds years ago. Withholding food for one entire day/having water available at all times, can cure the worst of worst of loose stools. Withholding food is recommended by most vets as the first line of treatment, or should be.
As long as you keep feeding them you are feeding the bad bacteria that has gotten out of balance. Proliferating the whole cycle. - doxiemom11Explorer IIYou may want to have it checked for worms/parasites. When our dogs have had issues, parasites were the cause - particularly hookworm which most heartworm/flea tic mixtures do not have protection for. It is in the soil and does not die even over a winter.
