Litter box in basement storage

I've seen some people who have found ways to make a cat tunnel into one of the basement storage compartments so the litter box can be kept down there.

My favorite method was having the tunnel go from the side of the stair case into the compartment next to it. Looking at my rig, an 08 fleetwood fiesta LX, it looks like quite the task. The side of the staircase is metal. Also, the inside wall of the storage bay is also a sheet of metal with the water pump and water filter attached to it. I think that option is out...

Another option would be to tunnel into that storage bay not from the side, but from the top. The kitchen sink/cabinet is right above the storage bay. How hard would it be to cut through the floor?

It seems like that's the best storage bay to use. The rest would be much trickier to access. I'm thinking since there are water lines running through it, having a tunnel into it would make it easier to keep them from freezing in the winter....tennessee "winter" btw.

Thoughts?

Not yet. Haven't gotten any tips, haha.

And actually it's still in storage, taking it out and going full time in....5 days!

There are a few other projects to tackle first....sanitizing water tank, flushing water heater, installing a TPMS, adding vent covers, washing and waxing....after all of that I might tackle the litter box thing.
