12v lights using 1139IF bulbs extremely hot-replacement?

I have 6 recessed lights and I pulled all the bulbs out as the paneling around the fixtures were hot to the touch. I've contacted several major retailers about getting LED replacements or if there is another bulb I could use with negative results. Any ideas?
  • Look on E_Bay there are tons of 48 LED panels there for about $3.00 apiece. Since I installed mine several friends have done the same and every one who sees ours says I have so much more light inside than they do. :)

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying out an LED bulb I've ordered. I would like to get more information on the LED panels tvman44 was referring to. I think the best thing is to experiment to see what works best.
See the My LEDs thread. Great info there!

Incandescent bulb turns 95% of power into heat, and only 5% - into light. Being recessed, and in warm weather - I'm not surprised that panels are hot. Properly made, they should not be, not too much, but most RVs are poorly made and assembled, with cheap parts. Change to LED.
  • Greatest thing I did was replace ours with 48 LED panels. :)
