1994 Award bumper pool- battery help!!

Hello! Just purchased a 1994 award bumper pool trailer. The electricity works inside of the trailer when it is plugged into our car. It shows that the battery ON the trailer is full. We are having the hardest time figuring out how to access electricity from the battery on the trailer... It needs to be connected to a generator or our car for any of the electricity to work. Wondering if anyone has had this issue before with an award trailer?? Any help is so appreciated. Can definitely talk on the phone if that’s an easier way to explain!
  • That's really hard to say. The wires under the bed could be as simple as water pump wires. I would definitely NOT connect them together.

Do you have a multimeter that you can use to troubleshoot? Really all you are going to need to be able to do is take voltage readings.

Take the voltage at the battery and write it down. Now start following the positive wire along the tongue. Any connector you see poke the red lead of the meter into it to get a reading and put the black lead on ground. You should get the same battery voltage at all the connections. If the voltage stops you have found the device that is stopping it.
  • Thanks so much everyone! We changed out the battery. Underneath the bed, there are two wires (red and black) that aren’t connected to anything so it is probably the circuit breaker you were talking about. Do you think this might be the cause?

Electricity is 110v ,like your house...battery is 12v like the truck. Generator will supply 110v. Which are you referring to?
  • Could be that the battery on the trailer is shot. It reads full when connected to the car because the meter reads the car battery voltage.

What does the meter in the trailer indicate when the car is unhooked, generator off, and coach unplugged?
  • Here's what a circuit breaker typically looks like. They are available at any auto parts store for less than ten dollars. Just look at the side of the old breaker and it should have the amperage rating marked on it so you can buy the correct one.
  • It sounds like you have a blown fuse or bad circuit breaker on positive the wire from the battery.

At the battery grab the positive wire in your hand and trace the wire back toward the trailer until you find something that isn't a wire. If it's a fuse try replacing it. If you find a small rectangular box with two threaded studs that is a circuit breaker. You can jumper a small wire between the two posts to bypass the breaker and see if the trailer starts working.
  • A bumper Pull trailer?

Do you have a battery disconnect switch in the trailer?
Are you checking the charge on the trailer battery when it's disconnected from the car?
